The Story

The arts have always been part of Augusta’s story, and the Jessye Norman School of the Arts continues that tradition by helping the next generation find their creative voice. Named for Augusta native and five-time Grammy Award winner Jessye Norman, the school carries forward her belief that artistic expression can open doors, build confidence, and change lives. Though Norman passed away in 2019, her influence remains a guiding force for the organization that bears her name.

Today, the Jessye Norman School of the Arts offers students opportunities to explore music, voice, dance, theater, and visual arts in an environment designed to nurture skill and self-expression. The 18,000-square-foot campus serves as a home base, but the school’s work extends throughout the community through performances, summer programs, and partnerships with local organizations. For many Augusta students, JNSA provides arts education, mentorship, and a place where creativity is treated as an essential part of growing up.
