The Story

Since 2001, Tire City Potters has shaped Augusta’s clay scene under the direction of artist Shishir Chokshi. The studio blends working gallery, classroom, and event space, welcoming both seasoned ceramicists and first-time throwers. Seasonal favorites like Forever Pumpkins, the TCP Throwing Experience, and hands-on mug workshops have made it a creative destination for those eager to learn or simply get their hands in the clay.

The gallery features hand-thrown pottery that balances artistry with everyday function—from bowls and mugs to tap handles and pinch pots. Apprentices train alongside Shishir, helping craft and fire pieces on-site while refining their skills. Public kiln openings and product launches invite the community into the process, and the studio regularly hosts private events and kid-friendly parties. With discounts for Service Members and Augusta University JagID holders, Tire City Potters continues to pair craftsmanship with community connection.
