The Story

What began as a visit to Fernandina Beach for the Shrimp Festival turned into something unexpected for Scott and Trish Cline—and ultimately led to The Patio at 5th and Ash. After discovering a local restaurant for sale, the New York couple saw an opportunity to put down roots in a community that felt like home. With more than 35 years in the food and beverage industry, Scott brings experience shaped by every role—from busboy to supplier—guiding a vision grounded in hospitality. Since taking over in September 2022, they’ve created a space that blends northern influence with coastal charm. The menu features favorites like house-made sangria, a bourbon-style Bloody Mary, slow-braised short rib French dip, and their well-known meatballs, alongside rotating desserts. With live music throughout the week and a pet-friendly patio that captures the relaxed beach atmosphere, it’s a place designed to gather, unwind, and return to—whether for lunch, dinner, or Sunday brunch.
