Rooted in a smalltown Central California tradition, Aunt Mae’s Sweet Tooth carries forward a recipe that began in a family kitchen. Antonette grew up watching her mother, known as Aunt Mae, prepare rich, buttery toff ee each Christmas Eve, batch after batch shared with neighbors who came to expect it. What began as a once-a-year ritual has grown into something lasting, shaped by consistency and care. Today, Antonette and her son Gary continue that legacy together, preserving both the recipe and the spirit behind it. Since opening in 2020, Aunt Mae’s Sweet Tooth has expanded beyond its signature toff ee to include small-batch fudge, soft caramels, caramel apples, and a curated selection of gifts. The process remains hands-on, with ingredients sourced from nearby farms and dairies and each batch made with care. Bakersfi eld has embraced the shop, drawn to both the sweets and the story behind them, where tradition, quality, and a sense of home come together in every bite.
