The 1842 Inn offers exquisite lodging in the heart of
Macon, blending the amenities of a grand hotel with
the ambience of a country inn. It is elegant but not
overwrought. Guests find the inn at once relaxing and
efficient—good for business or for a serene getaway.
The guest rooms and public areas are housed in
a Greek Revival antebellum house and a Victorian
house that share a courtyard and gardens. Visitors
move freely through the common areas—much different than life in cookie-cutter
motels. And their rooms are very private. Operated by Macon native Charles Olson,
the 1842 Inn is Macon’s only AAA Four Diamond Award property.
There is a delicate balance kept at the 1842 Inn: keeping the feel of the classic
house, while modernizing the amenities. Fine English antiques and paintings,
oriental carpets, tapestries, and elaborate draperies highlight the nineteen guest
rooms, parlors, and library in tasteful design.
1842 Inn also features a full bar, which is open to the public, and serves drinks
nightly until 11:00PM.
For business or pleasure, get away to the heart of Macon at the 1842 Inn.
