Karsten & Denson, the hardware store in
Ingleside Village, feels like it is from another
time, yet it delivers the best modern tools and
techniques for DIY projects, gardening, home
improvement and more. Vegetable seeds, flower bulbs and gardening tools sit alongside
unexpected items like cast iron cookware, bee-keeping necessities and canning supplies
to preserve seasonally harvested foods. The store also holds a large selection of materials
for local wildlife food plots.
In 1920, the locally owned neighborhood hardware store began operations in the Lee
Building on Third Street in Downtown Macon. Johnny Davis purchased the store in 2000,
operating two locations for a period, until eventually Karsten and Denson settled into its
current home in 2008.
A unique store, the majority of its inventory comprises American-made items. In fact,
community is clearly important to Johnny, who supports community schools, churches
and civic organizations—he’s also actively involved in the Macon chapter of the Citizens
Climate Lobby which advocates for sustainable climate solutions. Focused on community,
the team at Karsten and Denson delivers on excellent customer service, too—they will
even help you load your goods into your car!
