“Summers spent at my grandmother’s in Italy
meant waking to the smell of her tomato sauce,
wonderful hours in the kitchen,
full of laughs and instruction,
mounds of flour, like Vesuvius,
only topped with eggs,
and rolling the gnocchi with fork tines,
and stretching the pizza dough into the pans,
with messy fingers, smiles, and anticipation.
As I look back now, I realize that
before I learned to cook eggs
I knew how to make Nonna’s pizza.
This tiny bit of poetry, written by Romo’s co-owner Natasha Phillips, describes the heart and soul of Romo’s Pizza. She and her husband, co-owner, Carl, had always dreamed of starting another new venture together… they already own FOJ: An Eatery… and pizza had always been in the back of Natasha’s mind… thus, Romo’s! Romo’s serves authentic, wood-fired, Neapolitan pizza that is ALWAYS hot, fast and made to order. You’ll also enjoy glutenfree options, Italian pastas, lamb skewers, meatballs, charred cauliflower and salads. Natasha’s mother, renown local Italian chef Natalia del Basso-Orsini, is an important influence to Romo’s, and Natasha is proud to continue the family tradition. Named for Natasha and Carl’s son, Roman, a trip to Romo’s will be well worth your while.
