The Story

Nikki Avila is a dedicated birth doula, educator, and advocate based in Bakersfield, California. With over a decade of hands-on experience supporting families, she is the founder of In the Waiting Doula Services LLC and co-founder of Three Moons Doula Collective. Nikki is a Certified Hypnobabies Childbirth Instructor, VBAC Link Educator, and is trained in Spinning Babies® techniques. She has traveled to Ecuador and Mexico with Wombs of the World, learning from Indigenous midwives and deepening her connection to ancestral birth practices. A MediCal provider, she is committed to expanding access to culturally rooted, evidence-based care. Nikki mentors emerging doulas and leads community-based trainings centered on advocacy, inclusivity, and empowerment. She is currently on her path toward midwifery, continuing her lifelong dedication to birth work.
