For over 40 years, the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County (ADAKC) has been Kern County’s hidden gem, offering compassionate care, essential resources, and a fun, loving environment for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
As the only local nonprofit offering an adult day program specifically designed for individuals with neurological disorders, ADAKC provides full-service care Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM, with a commercial-grade kitchen serving a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Activities include arts and crafts, gardening, music, trivia, karaoke, pet therapy, and dance therapy, all fostering connection and joy. Their specially trained staff provide care with compassion, dignity and respect, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for all attendees.
Beyond day services, ADAKC is a vital lifeline for caregivers and families, offering free resources such as crisis counseling, literature, weekly support groups, and much-needed respite care. Their reach extends beyond Bakersfield with outreach programs in surrounding Kern communities.
ADAKC offers free tours and consultations, with services available through private pay, long-term care insurance, and veteran benefits. With 16 dedicated staff members and a welcoming atmosphere, ADAKC is more than a center—it’s a community where individuals can thrive and caregivers can find the support they need.
