In Bakersfield, some places grow alongside a community. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County is one of them. Founded in 1966 as the Boys Club of Bakersfi eld, it has evolved, expanding to serve girls, opening locations, and shifting from a “gym and swim” model to a focus on enrichment, education, and character development. Today, its reach extends across Kern County, grounded in the idea that every child deserves a place to belong and grow. Inside the Club, that belief takes shape in meaningful ways. Youth explore arts through partnerships, build confi dence through programs, and prepare for the future with workforce readiness training, including internships. Each evening, more than 2,000 meals are served. The Club supports families with safe care and works with community partners to strengthen Kern County. From children in shelters to more affl uent neighborhoods, the Club welcomes all, offering possibility.
