Jessye Norman School of the Arts has a mission—to meet the
artistic needs of underserved populations in downtown Augusta,
Georgia. Since opening its doors in 2003, it has grown to become
a place of creativity, education, and self expression for all.
In addition to the free after school and summer programs for
students, Jessye Norman hosts a number of art and culture events
throughout the year ranging from professional art shows, music, dance,
and theatrical performances, to homeschool classes and community programming for
children, adults and seniors at all skill levels.
Jessye Norman School of the Arts empowers students to become creative, caring,
visionary, and responsible citizens through the transformative power of the arts. Its many
events and programs—now including classes offered on digital platforms—encourage and
rely upon public engagement and support. Jessye Norman School of the Arts is supported
in part by the Greater Augusta Arts Council and the City of Augusta, by the Georgia
Council for the Arts, a number of generous foundations, and, most importantly, your
contributions.
