Augusta University is an institution where you can build, think, grow, and forge. It’s a university in a thriving community built on a solid foundation of local pride and artistic expression. AU spans the arts, humanities, and social sciences, and offers year-round entertainment through live performances.
The Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre, located on Summerville Campus, is the cultural heart of Augusta University. The Department of Music ensembles and Theatre AUG provide a wide variety of performances for the whole family to enjoy. The Maxwell Theatre’s multi-level extension makes the theatre extremely versatile. Performances from opera and theatre to symphony and dance all feel at home on the Maxwell stage. The theatre is an intimate venue for the audience with each of its 740 seats remarkably close to the action.
The Lyceum Series presents national and international music, dance, and theatre companies, while The Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Society brings a rich series of world class performers from all genres. The Department of Art & Design offers the Cinema Series, student and faculty art shows, and lectures on topics of interest in the visual arts.
