Step into Augusta’s culinary time capsule at Villa Europa,
a family-owned gem that goes beyond its delicious menu,
weaving four generations into its rich history. Anneliese,
the pioneering matriarch, planted roots in the ’70s, bringing
European flavors to Augusta. Her daughters Pat and Peggy
dedicated their lives to the restaurant, with Pat co-owning
until her passing in 2019. Peggy, who ran the books for years
and managed on the weekends, then seamlessly stepped into
her sister’s shoes, spending all of her waking, and sometimes
sleeping, hours at the restaurant.
The legacy continues with Anneliese’s grandchildren, each adding their unique touch.
From Bryan’s adored service until his tragic passing, Jacob’s culinary mastery, to Brittany’s
behind-the-scenes magic coming full circle with the launch of their food truck—Villa
Wagen—the third generation leaves an indelible mark. Even Anneliese’s other grandhildren, some part of the staff, ensure the restaurant’s story lives on. Villa Europa isn’t just
a restaurant; it’s a living family album. Now, the fourth generation is etching their chapter,
making every visit a journey through time and tradition. At Villa Europa, customers become
family. The restaurant witnesses literal lifetimes—the befores, the afters, and everything in
between—embracing each celebration with open arms. Be sure to visit Villa Europa or stop
by Villa Wagen at events around town.
