“Back home in Illinois, we did a lot of life in
coffee shops. It’s where we built relationships,”
said Heather Needles, who co-owns Rooted
Coffeehouse with her daughter, Ali Kocher.
“When we moved here almost five years ago, we
were missing that aspect of daily life. We also saw
that we were living in an ever-changing and diverse community that was used to doing
daily life independently. That became the catalyst for opening Rooted. There is a desire
to deliver a quality product and also a comfortable space for community, fellowship,
and doing life alongside others.”
Rooted Coffeehouse, located in the Market at Riverwood, opened its doors in February
2018. A second location will open in the summer of 2022 in Harlem. The mother and
daughter duo said the name came from uprooting their families from familiar small
town rural Illinois and moving to Evans, Georgia. It was their new home and they were
putting down “roots” that would grow as they became established in a new community,
experienced new adventures in the Peach State, and made memories as a family.
Heather is a mother to six children, three who still live at home, while Ali has her own
family with a husband and infant daughter.
