What started as a summer side gig quickly became a full-time passion. A former ESE teacher, Jennifer Mayo moved to Fernandina in 2020 with a dream of owning a food truck. She started with a hot dog cart, serving up creative takes on classic dogs while catering on the side. But she didn’t want to stick to the basics—she wanted to play with her food.
From the very beginning, quality has been the priority. Hot Dog House serves jumbo, all-beef dogs steamed in a special sauce, split, then finished on the flat top for the perfect bite. Signature creations like The Kong, Red Bone, and Dirty Dina set them apart, and an ever-evolving menu now includes house-made pulled pork, burgers, sausages, and daily specials.
The community has embraced them, and they give right back—supporting local causes like Hope House and the Coalition for the Homeless. The Amelia Island Chamber has played a huge role in their growth, helping them network and connect with other small businesses.
Named one of the area’s best small businesses two years in a row and best of Florida 2023 and 2024, Hot Dog House is expanding, with plans to serve lunch daily at Kraft Athletic Club. Follow them online to find their next stop, or book them for catering, school events, and party packs. Deliciousness guaranteed!
